Texas Oncology is looking for a Full-time Infusion Safety Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team! This position will support the Denton location. This is a full-time Monday-Friday 8:30a-5p position with no weekends, call, or major holidays.
This position can be a level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience.

What does the Infusion Safety Registered Nurse (RN) do?
Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Must recognize physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of care and participates in company-wide quality initiatives. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities
- Prepare patient charts four days in advance to ensure efficient workflow and patient management.
- Maintain accuracy and compliance by ensuring all documentation is complete and up-to-date for Cycle 1 Day 1 (C1D1) treatments.
- Conduct Cycle 1 Day 3 (C1D3) follow-up calls to monitor patient progress and address any inquiries or concerns.
- Secure and verify all insurance authorizations prior to scheduled infusion dates to prevent treatment delays.
- Provide coverage for lunch breaks for fellow Registered Nurses (RNs) and offer additional support as required.
- Respond promptly to patient reactions or emergencies, providing backup support to ensure patient safety.
- Oversee the infusion schedule to ensure adherence to the established template for optimal clinic operations.
- Coordinate and integrate any additional patient appointments into the daily schedule.
- Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain any missing treatment approvals.
- Assist in rescheduling patients in the event of shot clinic closures to maintain continuity of care.
- Follow up on outstanding charges to ensure accurate billing and financial accountability.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Infusion Safety Registered Nurse (RN) will have the following background and experience:
Level 1:
- Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
- RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- 0-3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology.
Level 2 (in addition to level 1 requirements):
- 3-5 years nursing experience including at least one year in oncology preferred.
Level Sr (in addition to level 1 and 2 requirements):
- Five years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology preferred.
