Texas Oncology is looking for a Hybrid Remote Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to join our team! This is a predominately remote position but will be expected to visit sites in their region 1-2 times per week. This position will be responsible for supervising the Texas Oncology Gulf Coast Region. It is a requirement that the candidate reside in the the Greater Houston Metro Area.

What does the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor do?
This position ssupervises the day to day operations of a multi-site practice of admixture technicians ensuring sites are adequately staffed, trained, and operating within regulatory guidelines. Responsible for inventory management of drugs overseeing inventory control, storage, shipping, and receiving. Determines appropriate drug levels based on patient flow, shelf life, drug outages, and recalls. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include Code of Ethics and Business Standards and Shared Values.
Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities:
- Supervise the daily activities of drug mixing and admixture operations.
- Conduct workflow planning, staffing, training, and troubleshooting complex or unusual admixture questions.
- Implement process improvements to achieve quality and productivity operational goals.
- Draft policy and procedures to ensure compliance with existing or new regulations.
- Oversee the delivery, ordering, and shipment of drugs.
- Review inventory levels, ensuring DIOH (drugs inventory on hand) are in line with practice goals.
- Answer questions and resolve issues pertaining to the handling and shipment of drugs.
- Respond to and resolve billing code issues on drug charges; research errors or incorrect codes and make adjustments to charge entries.
- Ensure all sites comply with accreditation, quality assurance, legal, and other regulatory requirements.
- Implement and enforce waste management regulations to ensure medications are correctly stored and disposed of.
- Monitor and communicate changes in drug regulations to appropriate pharmacy staff.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information related to patients, medical, and clinical staff.
- Lead meetings and facilitate groups to achieve desired results, utilizing facilitation tools for effective participation and decision-making.
- Provide budget input.
- Implement short-term goals aligning with the company’s vision and business goals; cascade goals down to staff’s annual objectives.
- Provide ongoing job-related education and training to staff; may develop training materials.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to continually improve efficiencies.
- Coach and develop staff; responsible for interviewing, recommending hires, assessing performance, recommending salary changes, and progressive discipline.
- Enforce adherence to company policies.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Covers as a Pharmacy Tech as needed
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree in a medical-related field preferred.
- Certification from an accredited Pharmacy Technician school required.
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Oncology background strongly preferred.
- Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred.
