Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for our GYN Oncology Department supporting our sites in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for GYN oncology patients in an inpatient and outpatient setting
- Admit and discharge patients on behalf of the attending physician
- Initiate and document appropriate interventions
- Evaluate and record patient and family response within practice protocol
- Prescribe drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation
- Assist in the operating room
- Round on surgical patients
- Assess patient and family needs and provide education
- Promote/provide staff education
- Serve as a liaison between inpatient, skilled nursing, and home setting
- Incorporate evidence-based research into clinical practice
- Maintenance of active hospital privileges
Qualifications
- Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program or successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Post MSN oncology/gyn oncology nursing or Physician Assistant experience preferred
- Patient and surgical skill set experience preferred
- Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiological and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment preferred
- RN State License and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state, along with current state certification of Nurse Practitioner or current state license as a Physician Assistant
- Current CPR certification required
- Must be willing to travel to the various hospitals and practice locations
- Must be available to work Saturdays
- Prefer acute care experience or prior privileges in acute care
